Default Most reliable turbo (other than k04)

Looking to go Big turbo with my 02 1.8t.. I already have all the supporting mods except suspension and brakin, but Ill save that for later. Im thinking about pickin up the turbo as a christmas gift to myself lol. I was thinking about the GT28RS, but not sure about reliability and how my tip tranny would hold up. But what I really want to know is what is the most reliable turbo upgrade other than a K04?

Anything Garrett would be fine. But what hp level and price are you looking for. The t3 60trim is basically a gt28rs but with faster spool and cost about 1/2 as much

LMA0! I was thinking about it, but its a lil too expensive to replace the glue everytime I drive the car and it melts off..

CincyTT:

Yea I know **** about turbos. If it is true that the T3 60 trim is the same but spools faster, why do more tuning companys offer the GT28RS kit for the 1.8t and its way more common?

Also what kind of software/injectors would I use with the T3? BTW- Im looking to be right around 300 as far as hp and tq go..

People sell 28rs's becuase they are newer and more known. The t3 60trim is like $675 with an internal wastegate. You would use the same tune for it as you would a 28rs. Either a 440/580/630cc file.

Correct me if im wrong, but the sites ive been searching for T3 claim its flow capacity is 250 HP while the GT28RS is 350 HP.. Wouldnt it be better to run a bigger turbo at less psi (15-16) and put down say 290 hp..as opposed to running 21 psi on a smaller turbo and get 250-260 hp?

Your tranny is going to have problems to unless you level 10 it.

There have been plenty of people making 300+whp on a t3 60 trim. Do a search on vortex and you will see
