Default RE: Mods For $300

So, umm, I'm not sure what either one of the guys above are talking about...."building your car up to" a chip is fairly simple, just add a 710N diverter valve for 30$...speed tuning chip for $125...

Most important tool for diagnosing vaccum/boost related leaks, and turbo health in general is a boost guage, super straight forward install, it will set you back somewhere between 35-60$ for a decent guage (don't buy a sport comp 2, I have one and it sux)

for this kind of money you could also look into a turbo ionlet pipe, the added boost causes some flex/restriction on the stock pipe (not much with the stock turbo though) 135$

you can look into getting an 034 engine cover (valve cover cover lol)...they are inexpensive, but they look pretty awesome.$40 or less

you could go for a new front grill (RS4 is by far the most common)...$80

eBay short shifter..definately worth the 25-40$ (it will actually make the car faster, because the shift time will be shortened)

you can also do clear sidemarkers and clear corners, it should prolly cost about 60$(shipped)(you may be able to do the clear corner mod as well, i'm not sure though)

look into doing the airbox-mod, between the new DV and the added boost it will make a pretty decent sound, I did a custom heatshield and a cone filter(set me back about 50-60$)

and as far as free mods go, if you havn't de-badged...it will definately help in the looks department

chip-125,DV-35, boost guage~50, short shifter-40, rs4 grill-80, clear sidemarkers~20, de-badge (if you havn't), airbox-mod
125+35+50+40+80+20=$350

if it was up to me I would probably do something like this....it's up to you though...

gl!

speedtuning chip- 125
dv- between 50-100. the 710n no longer costs 30 bucks, i think its like 80 now.
boost gauge- 50
fmic- 150

total- 325-375 depending on what dv you get and how cheap you can find it

i think u should wait for the chip and build ur car up to it. if i were you i would start with an intake and a test pipe... or intake with the forge... dont go cheap and get the cheapest chip on the market cause its just not worth it and if u go with a more expensive chip it'll be better if u have a nice intake (k&n works just fine and its like 60 bucks) and a better flowing exhaust (testpipe for 160) or a better dv valve. the testpipe does give noticable performance so you'll enjoy it a lot. good luck
No offense dude, but you have no clue what you're talking about. You can do testpipe, SpeedTuning chip, and DV for a little over 300.

By building up to the turbo, he means getting a K04, elim kit or bigger turbo. if you wantSERIOUS hp, you'll need more than an elim turbo kit. So check out the stage 3/3+ APR kits www.goapr.com. If you want that kind of power, you'll be spending much more than $5,000. So IMO, if you want the best power gains for the buck, do the speed tuning chip and get the forge dv. You will be able to use the forge dv with any btmod you can think up, just by changing the spring and spacers that come with it, so you won't be throwing out money there. You can always buy a spare ecu for cheap (I got one at a junk yard for $125, but some places are cheaper still) that you can send out and spend big money (+$500) on LATER to match the bigger turbo setup, bigger injectors, etc...after you have decided on the extent to which you want to mod your engine.
YOU WON"T GET ANY BETTER POWER GAINWITHANYTHING ELSE OUT THERE FOR THIS KIND OF MONEY.

And Pimp - just b/c speedtuninghas only established a US presence in the past few years, doesn't meanshit.
They havesolidcredabilityin Europe. Wait, isn'tAudi a Gemancar?

if hes going bt later then he'll want to go with unitronic for his chip, that way hes not wasting money in the future. also, unitronic has the best bt file for a b5.

does speed tuning do bt files?

i totally agree with you on standalone and i would agree that ctapp is a good option, but they haven't been around and aren't as reputable as unitronic. you know you are going to get an awesome tune with unitronic.

Only if the facility you choose isn't able to test AWD cars under full load.
