No its available in the States. It's just another brand of synthetic oil. Many people swear by it. I live a mile from Jeg's, so it's easy for me to buy.

I used Royal Purple 10W40 in the summer and Bardahl 5W40 in the winter.
I do like the Bardahl because it took away the valve lifters noise that I used to hear in the summer. I tried using RP with Lucas stabilizer and the noised went away, but now just using the Bardahl without stabilizer. I guess the Bardahl was the answer to my problem.
I paid around $7 CDN for a litre of this stuff compare to $11 a litre of the RP.

Audi recommended specific synthetic oils including Mobil 1 0W-40. This is to prevent sludge.

YOU LUCKY SOB. In years past when the acutualy carryed parts for cars that I had, I would have killed to live that close to Jegs, you know the hole sit and wait without a car untile your precious little part shows up. But ha, I live about 4 miles for a royal purple store, or plant, or maybe its just the distributing center for this area, never the less, it very avalible around here. I've yet to try it though, how is it working for you guys.

I used to use Mobil 1 and had no problems. A friend told me about Amsoil and I have been using that since, about 10 years now. Nothing at all wrong with Mobil 1 but I had a TSI when I switched and the car just felt like it ran better when I went to Amsoil. I did the extended drain entervals, change the filter at 10k and filter and oil at another 10k. Amsoil says you can go to 12.5k in a natrually aspirated car. In the TSI I think I could have gone 12.5 but never tried it, the oil still looked clean when I drained it. Same for the Audi and every other car I have owned.

It may look clean but what about the viscosity, did that change much over the miles?
