Well my car started misfiring really bad the other day. I VAG'ed it and it said random misfire and cylinder 2 misfire. The random went away but the cylinder 2 stayed on. I let it sit for about 6 hours, started it up and it ran perfect. The next morning I was going to school and halfway there it started misfiring violently again. I checked for spark on cylinder 2, and there was nothing. Bought a new coil, still misfiring. Could this be the ICM? The previous owner said it was changed, but are they prone to failure? Would it be intermittent like that?Searched a little, but figured I'd try to get a quicker response. Thanks.

 

What year A4 do you have? 00+ models don't have an ICM.

Yeah its the ICM then, coils don't go bad on those year A4's (at least not often)
