Default misfire problem, please help me out

Got the revo chip installed about a week ago and I noticed that I was getting a few misfires. At first there were a lot when you got on it and they could continue from about 3000-4500 where it would finally clean it self up. I went to my local shop and had the guy drive it and he agreed with me that it was misfires. I changed the plugs to NGK(i forget the number but it's one temp cooler then stock) and set the gap to .028. This really helped the problem but didn't competently fix it. I still get small misfires that are not enough to get the cel to flash and they don't last long or happen every time you accelerate. When I was changing the plugs I noticed that the plastic boot on at least one coilpack maybe two was cracked near the bottom and they look original. I ordered the hitachi E packs from ecs hoping that this will fix the problem and i'm going to replace all 4. Could there be any other causes for small misfires like this? It's a 2000 1.8t btw.

I can't remember if the 2000 model has an ICM (ignition control module) or not, it would be bolted to the top of the air box if it were there. That would be your problem, not your coil packs.

Replacing all 4 coilpacks should fix your problems. It happens a lot after cars are chipped for some reason. I will not speculate as to why, but I've just seen many similar posts to yours.
