No ticking just the evap valve, kinda annoying too. But that's only when I'm outside the car. I cleaned the MAF 3 months ago. It's not that, it measures up in VAG.

A miss almost always sets a light. I guess you could check the MAF too
Not always.. I had the same symptoms when i had two cracked spark plugs. It would run fine when driving conservatively, and as soon as i get on the boost it would stutter/sputter/shake. There were times when the CEL would flash when it happend, and there were some days when it would happen and no flashing CEL.

well if you're not getting full boost like me, you may want to check for a boost leak because you may be running too rich. Too rich = misfire, too lean = detonation; as others have told me. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I have yet to do this because I am at college now and my car is sitting by itself back home, but let me know how this all turns out!

Long shot but check the spark plug gaps, if your plugs are gapped too wide, the high boost conditions can literally snuff out the spark.

I'm going to have to wait till friday to pull the plugs.

But anyone know what the count columns in group 014 and 015 mean when you VAG the engine group. I remember somewhere saying that it's the number of misfires but I'm not sure since it was last summer when I changed the ICU and that's when I remember reading about it. If that's the case I don't think it's the coils or the plugs since it would be highly unlikly that all 4 are doing that at once.

Confirmation on the column thing would be great, I can't seem to find the info I had and can't find it on searches anymore.

Check this link out, it's awesome for Vag-Com block identification. BTW, did you do a 3rd gear pull while logging correction factors (group 020) to make sure you are not knocking/detonating?

I had a bad coil pack for about a month and had the same symptoms as onepoint8tee and I never got a CEL during the misfire
