might have killed the radio
I was going camping this past weekend and we brought a friend with us. I loaded up that nice big trunk in the A4 with all kinds of gear. At the end I padded everything with some blankets and those foam eggshell things. Unfortunately at the same time I hit some component in the trunk because now the bose system is funked up.
The ignition no longer controls power to the radio. The lighting to the stereo is always on, but the stereo itself can't be controlled by the power button. There's no volume, no display in the dash indicating a problem, the light is just always on and nothing functions. Even when I turn the car off the radio lighting is still active.
I've somewhat explored the trunk, but does anyone knowledgeable know what I might have bumped in the trunk that would effect the radio?
Thanks, not looking forward to seeing the dealer

RE: might have killed the radio
ok, well I took off the left panel on the inside of the trunk. Found the little amp and the wiring harness for the 12V... everything seems in order... except!
what's that little white box with the Audi logo do? It had this metal pole attached to it with what looked like an emergency red colored pull tab.
Nothing seemed pinched or out of place there. Not like I checked the ground on the amp or anything.
should i take it to a mechanic or a car stereo specialist?

Car radio specialist will be cheaper and prob give you a hint on how to fix what he may not be able to for nothing, whereas a mechanic may try to charge you something for actually doing nothing--in other words, go to the radio guys

I have the same year/model as you and I had the same exact problem the other day. It's a simple fix, just pop the panel off the dash that covers the fuse box. It's a 20amp fuse in slot 39. Simply remove the fuse and replace it. Radio is reset. It's akin to Ctrl-Alt=Del.

RE: might have killed the radio
Sorry, I should have been more specific. When you pop the fuse put it back in to reset the radio. Since you are getting lights to the radio, power is obviously getting to the H/U. The interruption of power take it out of the "frozen" state.
