Metallic clunk when braking?
Hi Folks
I'm getting a metallic sounding clunk noise when braking. I only noticed it this week whilst its been hot and due to being a poor Non A/C 1.8T B5 owner I had the passenger window open and heard it.
If I brake really gentle it doesn't do it but if I brale a bit harder in traffic etc it does it. I think I can feel it through the pedal as well but not 100% sure.
Has anyone got any ideas?
Cheers

How old are your brake pads? Most types of pads have a metallic piece that will rub your rotor when the pads are worn down. That would make more of a nails on a chalkboard sound though. If you have a jack stand, pop the rim off that the sound is coming from and take a look at the pads.
