Maint: What to expect A4 1.8T 5S
Hi,
I just purchased a 2000 A4 1.8T 5 Speed with Bose Stereo/Spkrs, Leather seats (electronic adjustment).
It's got new tires and breaks. It's also got 74K miles, clean title, no accidents.
What should I expect in terms of typical replacements, maintenance, etc..
I did notice someone say to put Synthetic oil in (Mobile 1), as A4's love it.
Please excuse my redundant question as I'm sure some of this was covered in some threads here.
I appreciate any feedback.
Thanks,
5SpeedJazz (Adam)

Swap out al the fluids (transmission gear oil, differential oils, rear diff if a quattro, brake fluid steering fluid (pentosin only0\).
change the oil now and every 5K miles with Mobil 1 0W/40. Use the larger filters available from the dealer or online
It is time for a timing belt, water pump to be done.

Thanks everyone for the good starter info, links and tips!
I found out another tip today.. I could go to my local Audi dealer/service center and provide my VIN and get a service history.
Some of this stuff like timing belt may have been done.. But I'm assuming not...
Cheers!

I ran my VIN thru the Stealership (I'm catching on to the lingo).. And they told me the last time service was performed in a Audi service center was 40K miles ago, and they recommended the Timing belt, and water pump, etc...
They told me it would be 1100 to do the whole thing. Is this average, or outlandish? Or better question... Is it possible to do this cheaper w/a kit and a "qualified" 3rd party mechanic?
Thoughts? Thanks!!!!

1100 is somewhat in the top area of the range of pricing for that job. i believe the actual parts are only 200-400 dollars, and the rest is labor. so, yes if you have a mechanic, or are somewhat mechanically inclined yourself, it would be much cheaper. its not an easy job from what ive heard.
