Low oil level

Low oil level
I have an '03 A4 1.8T with 58,000 miles on it, and occasionally my low oil level light will come on. I get my car serviced at the dealership at the recommended 10,000 mile intervals and usually once or twice in 10,000 miles between oil changes I will end up adding a quart of oil. I don't think I have any leaks and I am not blowing any blue smoke, so I guess the car is just using a little oil. Is this normal? I was a bit leary about getting the oil changed at 10,000 mile intervals, but that's what the dealership recommends. Anyone else have this problem?

RE: Low oil level
No, what kind of oil and what weight are you using.
How much oil are you using. When the oil light goes on, are you actually down a quart?
I change my oil every 5K and use no oil between changes, despite my oil leak.

RE: Low oil level
News flash: the dealer ship doesn't give a **** about your car. Change it at 7500 mile intervals at an independent mechanic or DIY. You'll save $$. All healthy engines burn a little oil between changes. I wouldn't be worried.

RE: Low oil level
I don't think I have any leaks. I park in the same spot all the time and there is nothing on the pavement below my car. I use 10W30 (I think that's what the dealership uses as well). When my low oil light comes on, the oil is just below the notch in the dip stick, it never takes more than a quart to get back into the middle of the notch. I think I am going to start changing my oil every 3,000 myself. I was going to the dealership because of the free maintenance, but now that I have over 50,000 miles, it's not free.
