low coolant and oil temp?
Hello everyone. From what I learned from searching on the forum. It seems my thermostat maybe bad. My coolant temp doesn't rise above to maybe 1/4 the way up and my oil barely heats up at all. I have no fault codes on the computer. Also I just changed my oil today and it had a gasoline scent to it. Does anyone think because the car is not warming up normally that all the gas is not burning throughly and the remainder is in the oil. My heat is warming up good though so im thinking the thermostat may be good still. I just had the timing belt changed 10000 miles ago. Any input is appreciated.

RE: low coolant and oil temp?
hmmmm.... i'm having similar problem ish... it started right after i got my APR chip, so i just figured it was running really rich, whcih it is, in like the 10's and 11's, but yeah when i'm crusing thorugh town it stays at like 1/4 not 1/2, but when i drive it hard it warms up to the 1/2 mark, also at stoplights the temp starts creeping up to the 1/2 mark, but then the moment i start rolling it goes right back down to slighly above 1/4, and oil temp from what i noticed is at like 175'ish is that thermostat?

You'll be fine at the track with a stuck open t-stat, just give it plenty of time to warm up before you start beating on it. Now, if it sticks closed thats obviously another matter, or if its stuck partially open that could cause problems as well. My bet is that once you are racing it hard the temp will stay right around 1/2.
