Lousy milage - solved
Just picked up a '03 A4 Quattro 3.0L Stick. Milage has been running around 18 for city driving. I really expected 22 or so since that's what my '07 Passat 3.6L Wagon is getting. First thing I checked was the tires - the dealer delivered it with 20 - 25 lbs in all the tires! I pumped it up to about 38. Let's see how it does now.
What is everyone else running? (17's)

I believe the tire pressure rating is in on the inside of your fuel lid/door
38 sounda a lil high for stock...my guess would prolly be around 32 or so
20-25 sounds on the low side though

somehow, I get the edges for my tires wear much faster with 30 PSI.. I pumped it up to 40 and everything was better (16 stock rims and tire size).
Now I got new 18s and I run abt 42. So far so good.. no uneven wear.
as for mpg.. i get anywhere from 17 to 22 for city only driving. It all depend on my mood.
I never got more than 24 for highway only.

Just to show you the difference a few years, engine sizes and body styles make (comparing your passat to your audi).....my 2006 A4 2.0 DSG gets 35.5 on the highway and 28-30 around town. My friend's 2007 passat (which I think is the same platform as my A4 and is also a DSG) also has the 2.0 and gets 27 around town and 32 on the highway. My driving style is a lot more aggressive than his...so it should be the other way around. I remember my 2000 jetta w/ 3.2L v6....would get a lowsy 18mp..it was a manual also
