So my 2001 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro has been doing something weird recently. It's suppose to be a quiet car but when I get the thing going up to 35-40 mph their is a loud muffle type sound that was never their before. The really weird thing is when I turn the wheel to the right side it is way louder. I am guessing there are some broken berrings in the wheel? The noise is coming from the back tire on the drivers side, so that is my guess. Does anyone else have an idea of what it could be? How much do you think it will cost to fix? Thanks,

Definately sounds like the drivers side wheel bearing. Does the sound decrease when you make left turns?

 

i agree,wheel bearings,get the good ones,the sealed ones.

 

does the sound get louder the faster you drive definetly a wheel bearing

 

The car is silent when i make left turns. And the sound does get louder when I go louder, I thought thats what it might be but I just wanted to make sure. Thanks guys, do you know how much it will cost to fix?
