Looking into buying an A4, got some questions...
Well i'm interested in buying a used A4, but i have some questions for all you guys...
-Do i rather want the 1.8T, or the 2.8T, does one last longer on higher boost? Is one more responsive to mods?
-Are there any reoccuring problems with a certain year or body style?
-I'm looking to spend around 8k-9kish, what miles and conditions am i looking at?
Thanks guys!
I hope soon enough i will be an audi owner!

Dude not only have you not searched... but I don't even think you've done any normal buyers research on the car...
Apparently you've dreamed up a 2.8T somewhere alone your journey...

Headshok isnt trying to be a dick, but this topic is asked about almost every day now. Also, a simple "audi reliability" search in any web search will give you lots of results. I mean you took the time to register in Audi Forums, Im sure your a very capable web user to find the info you need... Just read through the posts to find out for yourself which one you want, thats the best way to do it... All the info you need is here and easily attainable.. I love that word.

theres no 2.8t but theres a 2.7t and that comes on the s4 not the a4
1.8t has more modd potential and it also has more boost than the 2.8 because the 2.8 has no boost. the 2.8 engine will last longer but it has no turbo on it so mods are kinda limited.
reacuuring problems, 1.8t=oil sludge, but thats only if you neglect to change the oil.
both have control arm problems, tierod end problems and if the car has over 70k on it look into having the timing belt changed.
ummmmmm sunroof can be a pain sometimes, but its usually a cheap easy fix, uuh yea thats it i think.
for 8-9k you can get a b5 with around 80-100k miles on it.
