Default Left Turn Signal error

On my B6 display screen on the dashboard, it indicates that the turn signal has problem, but when I look at the lightbulb it still works. Does that mean there is something else wrong with the signal light or is it that I just need to replace a brand new bulb? I called the dealer and they said they need 30-40 dollar to fix it, if not more. I'm like taht's crazy to change a bulb. Does anyone know the process of taking it apart to change the left signal bulb?

Thanks

Funny.... I got the same error indicates last night. The front left turn signal did not work. I poped the hood open this morning and tried to replace it myself but couldn't find a way. There is a black plastic piece covered driver side headlight housing. (My is '04 A4 3.0) Since I am not too good with DIY especially with car stuff (I screwed up few things before), I don't want to touch it.

Can someone please let us know how to replace the left turn signal bulb? $30 - $40 to replace a light bulb is crazy!! It would be great to have pictures. Thanks for the help.

On the 2001B5, you have to remove the head light assembly. You need a 1/4"
T-30 torx bit with a 6" extention. Good luck.

Its probably the electrical socket that the bulb sits in, thats why they quoted you $40, tap on the fender with the blinker on and see if the bulb magically works, if it does it needs the electrical socket. To change it you remove the 4 T30 Torx fasteners and remove the headlight assembly, turn the plastic **** behind the turn signal and the entire electrical socket and bulb will come out.

I replaced the bulb everything looked fine. checked the fuses. But is still doing the same thing, front only left blinker, harzards work but no left blinker. When lights are on the light works, but not the blinker.

tj19855, im trying to tell you that your problem is the socket the left front bulb sits in, it happens all the time, i never have to change front turn signal bulbs, just the electrical socket. I doubtyour turn signal switchhas any problems because your left rear blinker works fine.
