RE: Leather(ette) Seats in 1.8T A4
The 2004's and up do have leather as an option in the 1.8t
Anything previous to that has leatherette (no leather option) with a mild exception. You could get leatherette as far back as the A4 goes (1996). But 1996's were an oddity - you could also get a real leather option in the 1996 1.8ts. Somewhere in the production of 96-97 they changed the real leather option to leatherette. The 1996 brochure never ever mentioned leathertte, but some cars did come with it.
In any case, Audi's leathertte is very resilient and many people do mistake it for real leather.

Thanks for the info. I see so many advertisements for A4's with leather I was wondering.
I was talking with someone who is very knowledgable about automotive interiors on the difference between leather and leatherette. Leather comes from a bull or a steer while leatherette comes from a cow.
