Default Leaky DV??

Okay, when i am acelerating, even if it is not hard, and my boost is at or above 2-3 psi, i hear a "wishing" noise, which i thought could be just it letting off excess air into my intake, but then i realized that A) it is on the left side of my car where the stock intercooler is, and B) i imagine it would only let off pressure when i decrease the throttle.

Now maby Audi designed the car to let off a certain amount of air at certain rpm's and throttle levels for efficiency or whatnot, but im not sure anymore.

I have a 2001 audi A4 1.8tQ. someone please help!

do a pressure test.. but you will more than likely be able to stick your head under the car, and see a hose that has a whole in it

Would it be more likley that my DV is blown, or that i have a leak somewhere near my intercooler. And also, i am getting the APR chip 2morrow at 10 AM, and i dont think a boost leak and that will get along very well [sm=headbang.gif]

Well you are having your DV replaced tomorrow when you get the chip right??? You better be, cuz th stock dv will for sure die after getting chipped. If you do have a leak the chip will make the leak more obvious and maybe easier to find, so it may not be that bad of a thing getting chipped w/a boost leak. It might make it louder and more identifiable. If the sound is coming from the IC side, check the IC piping/hoses/intake man. hose and also the F shaped hose up by the intake on the firewall side of the engine for cracks.

One thing i hater about audi's: they cram everything way far forward. Whateva.

And i wasnt planning on getting a DV, the APR people said my stock DV would handle the pressure.

ANd if i do, i will get the one from www.awe-tuning.com

it makes me smile

And, can someone give me more specifics about where the DV itself is located, i would like to pull it and check it. I dont ahve time to do the pressure check i have found on the forums tonight, but i would still like to narrow my places down.

your stock DV will not handle a chip.

the 710N is a oem DV and the most common DV upgrade.

Its off the tt225. Some dealers sell it for 70$ (like mine) and some for alot less.

ecs tuning sells it for 30$.

Unless youre planing on getting something other than a chip, a 710N is the way to go.
