RE: ATP graphs accurate? GT28RS, GT2X, K04
in response to my own question, ATP got back to me and said difference in lag is 3-400rpm, andGT28R will top out at 310hp and be more responsive overall. though there is also general link saying 290hp turbo, I hopeit wouldn't run too hot.
If the ATP graph http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/me...egory_Code=BCS
is real world accurate (honest) I'd probly go with the RS over the R, the lag is pretty small compared to standard K03, and the extra 30-40hp (RS vs. R)before 5.5Krpm would be good.

I'll definately make comparisons soonon theATP vs audi forum graphs
I'm pretty confident the GT28R, internalT25 flange...is good choice for me, I had a chat with tyrolsport and think it'll begood, it's for astreet car, don't want to have to rev hard to get the power-over bout 5,5Krpm. Want good torque which was recommended seeing as my car is heavier with the quattro system which takes moreoomph to get moving. gt28r should make a responsive streetbeast -looking at about 310hp. Generally comparing the RS vs. R is trade between 30hp or 30ft-lb.
was tempted to get gt28rs -be interesting to see if as good as ATP advertises it to be.

I asked ATPabout differences between the R and RS using their hardware kit (new T25 manifoldetc) they said above 6000rpm is where RS makes theextra power and only after 20psi of boost. generally the efficiency of gt28r is upto about 290hp, so 310 is fine to run to - not too hot.

hey i dont wanna sound dumb but i need to make sure. That t25 manifold your talking about SURELY isnt the stock t25 turbo that comes on a 2g eclipse/talon?? are we talkin gt25?? im a lil confused in the turbo vocab being used.

lag GT or T3 or T3T4 ...
it's the style of turbine housing made for the turbo.
ATP website;gt28r only has t25, the gt28rs has a few;

a few people said good to go with internal wastegate,T25 housing on GT28R. yeah I'm not talking about the T25 turbocharger-the older style Garrett without the ball bearings.

T25 housing are fine up to gt3071r and some say 30r. T3 housings flow a bit better and start to show it when you get into the gt30 series turbos.
THe gt28r is not a "true" dbb turbo like the rs is. They both will spool almost the same and the rs will hold power longer and make more power overall. Get the hardware kit w/ the rs and you will not be disappointed. You can then compare your dyno with a eliminator car and laugh at there bad spool and lack of power. Your rs would kill a 2871r elim also.

I'm actually now alsolooking at a T3 super 60 .48 a/r,I tended to disregard theT series (until now) thinking their just old technology compared to the GT. But the T series seem to have lot of options, which mayallow better suited turbo. There is also the different T3 60 which is similar to the T3super60.
Apparently the T3super60could be better street turbo than the Gt28r, giving power closer to the RS with quicker spool than RS. I'm looking into the options such as watercooling and ballbearing(s) which seem to be available. not sure ballbearings are that important for this turbo - Turbonetics might offer single ball bearing,prob bit more expensive.
