I've had it for about three months....so far no probs... I am actually thinking about selling my whole kit for the new atp kit w/ the gt3071r....giving me about 400awhp. Of course, that won't be anytime soon....[:@]

 

quattrosedan, can we step back down to reality here. Why would you want the gt3071r? Your car will have so much lag it wont be a street car, and im not kidding. I am not a bt expert as of yet, but i can you i dont think that turbo will be fully spooled till after 5k. Tomritt will chime in with the right anwser. You will overall have a faster car on a fully tuned gt28rs car. Talk to tom about this, hes going 2871, and he is worried about engine problems. Its retarded to get a turbo that big with a car with 1.8liters to spool it, think about it.

 

^^^True. ^^^ Your car will be useless. But I'm really interested in the GT28R. What kind of software are you running? What are you running for injectors, manifold, etc.?

 

Don't listen to these guys. I had a mani built for mine. I'm runnin a 2871r. It's ****** silly. Lag is only a small issue. just get a tunable bov to keep all the boost from excaping on shifts. drives like a n/a motor, which is PLENTY streetable, till about 36-3700rpm, then WHAM!!! rev it out to 7500 ,it'll pull all the way.
don't knock the BT's till you try em. I was gonna go smaller for better response, but NAHHHHH,, power is what I wanted.
I piecd my entire kit together together for under $3k. i was only runnin 16lbs of boost too! (cuz of stock IC)!! the AEB is one beefy motor compaired to the new ones. you can keep your stock piston and still be good up to 550 whp w/ pauter rods. the 3071r will be a MONSTER, first gear WON'T stick to the ground at all, prolly not second.
I agree though, screw the Eliminators, it's like breathing through a straw.. NO POINT!!!
OH, BTW.. tom's goin with the 3071r too, BUT hw's tunin his himself, so powers gonna be SILLY.. If you go EMS , go 034

 

i am having a manifold custom made. A friend of mine already has the 3071r on a fully built 1.8tq and it spools around 3600rpm.....loses traction in first, second and third. It is fast as SH*T! I don't think all of the ppl on this forum know what they are talking about. That turbo is big yes, but with the correct manifold, lag won't be an issue for me.

As far as the software I am currently only running a stage II ecu upgrade from apg.

Just wait till you get yer stage 3 in. that turbo makes great power, but will destroy just about any ko4 with a driver who doesn't mind higher rpms. Yes it will take a bit longer to spool, but you get more rpm's out the motor. shift later and turbo spools more quickly! It really is an all or nothing deal, but that's the sacrifice you make for havin a big power car. ko4's are great. nice power, quick spool, but it takes like (i'm guessing) an amazing tune and race gas to make 300 peak whp. on pump you cannot even hope for that. the 71r on a ATP beta tune (crappy) pushed 310 AVERAGE whp from 5 to 7k and a 325 peak.

I'm just more for the big power. i like a quick spool, but that's not my bag baby.
