Default keyless entry remote signal strength question!?!?!

my 98 A4 only came with one working remote, but it only worked from within a few feet of the car (hardly practical). i went on ebay and bought a newer remote, programmed it, and the result is only slightly better! anyone know of a way to make the signal stronger? i already tried new batteries in both remotes....

Haha... someone just tried to convince me that if you hold the key up to your chin and press the button it works from farther away... haha.... good luck with this one. It's all i have.

Mine only works from up to prolly 20-25 feet away on avg. I've noticed its range is far limited compared to my Clifford IG6000 alarm on my old car. That would arm/disarm 120 feet away at least.

There was a TSB on relocating the antenna wire in the trunk to extend range. Of course I can't find it now. Try searching the archives to see If i've posted the pdf before.

Man I can't find that write up either. It's somewhere on AW. I did, however pull my rear seat recently to look for that darn antenna and I couldn't find it. I would love to though.

I know that this sounds funny but it really works. You should try it one day.
