Hey guys,

I dropped my key today and it took its final blow. I took it apart and the chip is broken in half.

I was looking around on ebay and noticed that the only replacement keys had 3 buttons one for lock, unlock, and trunk pop. (mine only has 2: lock, and unlock)

i have a 98 A4, and three questions,

1. is it possible that my car has auto trunk pop, but just didnt have the key for it?
2. if my car doesnt have trunk pop, can I use a key with a trunk pop button?

my FCC id: mz2 410 819 64
the serial #: 4D0.837.231D 08.97

how many of these numbers/letters can be different for it not to work?

No, you don't have trunk pop.

Just keep searching ebay, they pop up daily. The 3 button one will work too, you just won't have that function.

so just to clarify, its impossible to use a key that doesnt have the exact same FCC id?

in other words, it is impossible to use a key that has 4 buttons (lock, unlock, trunk, kill) rather than mine that has 3 (lock, unlock, kill)
