Hey thanks for all the input. . . As i have stated in previous posts i am fairly new to performance modding so i still have a few questions:

1 - What exactly is a "GIAC pc-16" is that some kind of chip or software?
yeah K04 software that requires injectors
2 - Any preferences on injectors?
programing determines size not brand
3 - I was under the impression that 2.5" piping exhaust would be sufficient, is that not true?
2.5" is perfect - 3" is too much
4 - I was also under the impression that it was not necessary to upgrade our intakes for the k04? This wrong too?
no need to modify the manifold - k04 is a direct replacement
5 - As for the FMIC, any preferences on those either around here??
look in the DIY area for the $150 FMIC DIY

6-As i understand so far, to get the best performance out of a K04/Gpop K04

FMIC
Injectors
Chip
Intake - not really needed - stock air box is still effective
Exhaust w/ testpipe/hi flow cat - exhaust at least - test pipe if you don't have any emissions testing

 

1) The GIAC K04 software upgrade. There are 3 main software companies: GIAC, APR, REVO. Don't ask which is better, in the end the answer will be go with who is closest to you b/c you'll need support sooner or later.
2) I think people go Siemens 380cc injectors or OEM Bosch Audi TT225 injectors, with a flow of 386cc
3) It is sufficient
4) Not necessary since little gains are had. Most do it for DV sound purposes
5) Yes, search. There is a DIY to make your own and save $ but a few companies offer some good options that you won't have to cut your bumper to install. I think Evolution Racewerks is the one?
6) Don't forget the DV (Diverter Valve).

Search K04. There is so much information here and on other forums it's rediculous. I'm only answering you to help those who have answered this question before. I guess at the 2-star level, it's my duty to take over these kinds of things right now and free them up for other unique questions.

 

Okay another question, what chip did all of you go with??

I am really leaning towards the APR stage 1 chip. . . bad idea, good idea?

Go with whoever has a vendor closest to you. Check their websites for a list. I think most B5 peeps like the GIAC more than APR but I could be mistaken - I'm a B6.

 

well since APR doesn't offer a +1 program for the B5 its a little hard to get it. might be able to do a custom job. Call GIAC or AWEtuning.com to see if they can offer you an upgraded file for your year.
