what's up everyone, new to the board here. I have an 01.5 a4 1.8qtm and so far have installed a giac x chip, custom heatshield + air intake, apr dv, dual 2.5" exhaust, labree HFC. I'm looking for more power but I read that the k04-15 will only make about 10-15 more hp and the hammer file which works for my car is the least aggressive of all. What are my options at this point since I already shelled out $500 for the giac x chip? the k04-15 just doesn't seem that it's going to make much of a difference from what i've been reading. is the k04-2x a pretty simple and straight forward bolt on and what parts are required? easier than the eliminator kits? thanks

I need a safe reliable alternative. I was under the impression gt28rs wasn't very reliable as a daily driver and install is a pain. How about the k04-2x?

 

you think a true garrett is less reliable than a hacked up one by a company notorious for bad fitments and broken parts?

Strait from Borg Warner, going ko3s (which doesnt exist, still a ko3) is pointless and makes no sense. Ill even post the email if you REALLY need to read it for yourself

hey, i read your post about the k03 and k04 comparisons which is why I'm trying to figure out my alternatives at this point. What about the k04-2x on the 225 tt's that you mentioned? Or am I better off going with the gt28rs and ctapp file or something? Giac doesn't have any files that can run gt28rs right? I guess i'll have to sell the ecu but seems like a waste considering i just got it 3 months ago.

 

i thought you said gt2x in the last post and not ko4-2x (22,22,23). My bad. But no one makes a kit for that, mjmturbo i think makes it with a differnt housing and it should work, be much more worth it than a ko4-15 since it will actually make a noticable differnce. I personally would atleast go to a gt28rs or t3 60trim setup. Both have the same flow rating but the t3 isnt a DBB turbo so it cost far less than the gt28rs ($1200 vs $700 both internally gated). The nice thing is that the both will make the same power and spool the same (right around 3k). WIth a tapp file you should be looking close to 300whp and tq. This will cost a big more, but might aswell spend the money to make power instead of minimum gains and be disappointed.

I am confused by this thread as well.... or at least these last few posts. I can say from experience that going from my stock K03 to the K04 w/PC-16 file and supporting mods there is a big difference! It's not massive like it would be going to a BT setup but there is def. a good HP increase. I would have gone BT if I had a 5 speed [:@]
