K04 Finally!!

RE: K04 Finally!!
found something pritty interesting. some people are saying the k03 sport uses the same compressor wheel as the k04 but keeps the same exhaust side of the k03. that seems like it would be a pritty good setup.
you'd think this would get you better spool time than the k04 but still flow as well.
edit:
heres where i got the info: http://www.europeancarweb.com/longte...sburg_edition/
"The 2001 engine, which offers variable timing, is equipped with a KO4 turbo compressor wheel (5mm larger than K03) and a K03 exhaust wheel, which ultimately works more efficiently, providing increased power and a better top end over its (2000 1.8T) predecessor."

either way the turbo is so small i doubt it makes a world of difference

However if everybody wanted big hosepower with awd for cheep they would have a GSX or a EVO

RE: K04 Finally!!
ok i had to register to this site just to set the KKK turbo differences strait.. that and my other forums are updating right now..
but first off a ko4 is a great upgrade.. especially j31, pc-16, and hammer files... although i would never get them. BT or nothing for me.
and jonus079- your info was wrong. the ko3 sport was introduced in the 2000 model year. it has a more aggressive fins on the compressor wheel. the compressor wheel on the sport is not bigger than the regular ko3.. in 2001 the turbine and compressor wheels are the same again but audi increased the shaft diameter to make it stronger.. all in all the ko3 sport will be better than the regular ko3 but by only a miniscule amount..
and as far as sizing for the compressor wheel.. there is no reason to compare them to a t-28, gt28rs, and so on.. it is not even close.. what you can say is that the ko3(either one) is rated at about 260-270bhp. that is with some very agressive programing and supporting mods
*EDIT- and on a side note. the easiest way to see if you have sport pkg is to look at your suspension. if the shocks are red then you have sport pkgs.. if black then you don't..
the only year that the "T" badge had the red flag on it was 2001.. no other year had it
