Default Just startin the mods .. help

Hi, I am new to the website and also new to audi's. Just purchased a 2004 FWD A4 1.8t tiptronic. I am looking to begin my mods and 1st on my agenda is a cold air system. I have heard of 1 or 2 options like carbonio but that seems a touch pricey for an intake system. I cannot find anything locally and i'm finding it quite difficult to find an intake that fits my car online. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions? After that is installed i believe i'm going to move onto a chip.... most likely apr or giac is what i've been told, but if i order one online.... can performance shops install it for me? ? What else would you suggest as a mod, thats not going crazy on the dollars. Any info with help! thanks

No such thing as a true cold air intake for your/our cars. No room to fit. Unless you want to hack up your air box and run a hose to the front lower grill.
Good info on intakes: https://www.audiforums.com/m_639116/tm.htm
You have to send your ecu out to get flashed unless there is a local tuner that you can drive to.

^ what he said. just go for thechip and then follow up with exhaust. make sure you get a dv before a chip though or else it will blow you stock one out.

I would do exhaust first. Because your car is probably still under warranty.?

Exhaust can void your warranty. But only if your car is no longer holding back pressure. Acoording to the guy at the AUDI service department. He also said he has never seen this happen so dont worry!

I had my car chipped while i was still under warrenty and they didn't void it out. They were actually very cool about it. Just let them know you did it that way they don't get pissed off while they are checking your ecu. If you don't let them know they could possibly reflash it back to stock. oh yeah. if you go giac like i did you don't have to send out your ecu. it can be flashed in 30-45 min at local giac dealer.

I hear there cool with it. But if you break a valve spring or just something goes bad inside the motor they can blame it on the CHIP and your out about 20 grand!
