Just fitted my K04 but have a problem
Hey i just fitted my K04 today took around 4hours.
The k04 sounds a bit noisier and seems to pull a little better.
But when the car is spooling up or under load between 2k and 3.5K revs the car cant seem to hold its boost.
It pulls then stops pulling about a second at a time.
I havent got and CEL's on and above 3.5K the car pulls really well.
Any suggestions to this problem would be very helpfull.
Thanks,
Paul.

RE: Just fitted my K04 but have a problem
I have a 1 bar remap for the K03sport turbo on my car at the moment. I notice a hell of a difference higher up and when i nail it is 2nd pulls really well. (solong as its above 3.5K revs)
I wasnt sure if the actuator was needing screwed back as it probably has a stronger spring than the K03s???
Will probably try plugs tomorrow. As i dont know what one ar on the car.
Which should i go for? NGK's?
I have a GFB DV.
Thanks for the info folks!!

RE: Just fitted my K04 but have a problem
I have just been on the phone to 2 well known UK VAG tuners and one says i need to get the car mapped and the other says the Mass air flow meter is on it way out?
Any ideas i have had so many suggestions and am a bit confused now.
Thanks

I dont think it is the plugs as its just between 2k and 3.5k revs and its not a missfire its just boosting up and down up and down in this rev range.
I am not 100% sure its not them though.

RE: Just fitted my K04 but have a problem
If it idles rough and doesn't go past a certain RPM very well, then I have to say it is the MAF.
if it idles fine it isn't the MAF, remeber a MAF is a heated coil that cools off as air flows through it and as it flows
past the coil it cools off lowering the resistence over the coil. If its bad then it will be cool all the time and it will dump more fuel
at idle causing your car to idle bad because of fouling. Check your MAF and your plugs because if its your MAF the plugs will look
fouled. Take a voltometer and check the resistence if there is none then you need a new MAF. Happy tuning!
Ahhhh..just reread your post. If you upgraded the Turbo then you might be going past the capabilities of the MAF.
In the SR20DET Nissan world we would take the higher capacity 300ZX TT Maf and retrofit it to the inlet of the turbo intake.
So maybe you can use an S4 Maf?
