Default Iridium spark plug 0.4mm centre electrod

I was once recommended a set of Denso spark plugs. Can anyone tell me ifit is any good according to your experience with it? They said fuel consumption would be significantly lower as it reduces sparking voltage with its ultra fine 0.4mm dia. centre electrode, and performance would be improvedas well, anyone has any idea?

Not sure what engine you have, but iridium plugs are not normally recommended for turbo engines - they don't spark as well in high heat and lean conditions. That's not to say they will hurt your car (unless you race a lot). They simply won't perform as well in a turbo car as will stock plugs.

They do have a longer life though.

Thanks, brrman! My car is with a 1.8T engine.

You said they didn't perform as well as stock plugs in a turbo engine. You mean what, power or fuel consumption? Would there be any significance in a chipped engine with performance module?

The iridium plugsare so bloody expensive so I really have to think twice.

Even worse if you are chipped. Iridium plugs are made for long lasting durability - not for performance. They last longer and will perform better ina NON-turbo car. But with the intense spark created by a turbo engine (and even worse under chipped performance) the iridium does not conduct as well. Less performance/power. Dunno about fuel consumption.

I am chipped, I run stock Bosch copper plugs and I have run perfectly since being chipped - about 20K miles - on these same plugs. Don't waste your money on Denso. I know people that have tested them and have gone back to stock. Spend that cash on something more worthwhile.
