I am interested in buying an Audi A4. Can any of you that own an Audi A4 or know a lot about them tell me what year is the most reliable. Would all of you suggest getting an A4 or should i look for a different car. I want a car that will last me a long time. Thanks!

Get an A4, they are pretty reliable, but it depends on ur budget....and how long you really want to have it...how many miles will you put every year on the car?

you can find a 96-97 2.8L 12 valve for 5-6 grand....if you're not trying to do any mods than that's the way to go. the 12V isn't fast but it's one of the most reliable engines audi makes...

If reliability is your main goal, I probably wouldnt go with a german car, but for overall quality, comfort, and performance go with an a4

Yeppers, toyota makes the most reliable car on the planet! If your down with riding in something that feels like its made of wood and styrofoam... then toyota is up your alley! German cars have a great feel to them... very solid, excellent feedback from the car, and a great ride overall... in a toyota, you dont have much of a clue what is happening with the wheels, and they just kind of clamber along the road (but they do this for hundreds of thousands of miles without complaint)

Like bent said... you can snag a 97 or so 12V for 5 grand... but I mean... the timing belt alone eats up over a grand of your remaining 2000... if it needs anything else, brakes, CONTROL ARMS... then your budget is exhausted.
I'd look into something japanese, in your situation... an aging audi in the wrong hands could bankrupt somebody

I agree. For longevity and trouble-free transportation get a Toyota. I got rid of my Toyota at 320K miles.

For fun driving experience, go for the Audi.
