Default Intake and service question.

Pretty soon my A4 is going to be due for its 50k service and I was planning on taking it to the dealership. Does anyone know what exactly they do for this 50k service and about how much its going to cost? My other question is, is it best to change your oil and filter in between these 10K services?

Also I am planning on dropping a K&N filter inand I was wondering if that is going to require any adjustments to be made to the engine by the dealer. Thanks for the help guys.

The car will learn any differences in airflow from the K&N by itself (you can put the car into learn mode by disconnecting the battery for about 20 minutes, although you want to have your radio code handy for when you hook it back up). As for the services, I'm not sure what they check at 50k miles. On oil changes, I'd certainly change more often than 10k miles - 3 to 5k is more like it. And use a good filter, either OEM or Mobil 1, something like that. Don't subject your car to crap like Fram.

The 50k service is a rip off, its just a standard oil change and they charge usually $400 for it.
You should change the oil every 3k no matter what any oil company tells you.

Oh damn that sucks. Guess I'll be skipping the 50k service at the stealership and doing it myself. Thanks for the help guys.

to me, almost any service is a rip off unless it includes alignment, fluid flush and stuff like that.

I laugh to myself in disgust everytime I hear one of our service advisors selling a customer on >50k mile services. They are like robots programed to rip you off. They talk all technical and way over the customers head and overwhelm them until they are signing up for a 2nd mortgage just to get their cars worked on. Funny stuff.
