Instrument cluster light

RE: Instrument cluster light
Thank you for your help. Unfortunately I have been there many times and have never been able to locate an article on this at audiworld. I have only found articles on how to replace the entire instrument cluster and how to change the gauge faces. If anyone has a direct link to this tech article, it would be greatly appreciated.

What year is your A4? Later models used LED's which could not be replaced.
To remove the cluster do this. Lift up on the plastic piece at the bottom of the cluster. Behind it you will find two philips screws - remove them. The entire cluster will wiggle out of the dash enough for you to get your hands behind it. You will find several plugs that need removed from the back. They can be tricky. You might want to have a jewlers screwdriver handy. The bulbs are seated in the back of the cluster and remove with a small flathead screwdriver. Again use the jewlers. The bulbs are very specialized and can't be bought at Autozone. They are a few bucks at the dealership.

ecs sells gauge bulbs for $1 a piece, but take out the bad bulb first and make sure it looks like the one on their website...i bought 5 of them so i could have some extras and when i removed my cluster, all the bulbs were different from the ones ecs sold me...[:@]
