Installing a short shifter...

Installing a short shifter...
I want to get a short shifter but I have questions that need to be answered.
The first one would be about the product itself; who makes the best short shifter?
I have a 2000 Audi A4 1.8t, which one am I looking at? Bent or straight?
I want to install this thing myself... are their tutorials that exist for it? Im a bonehead when it comes to technical
car stuff but if I have good instructions with pics, I could do anything.
Thats about it... PEacers!

RE: Installing a short shifter...
There is no BEST short shifter. Everyone will have their favorite one. I prefer Neuspeed myself. Some have more features than others like adjustable throw and height. Go find my post that I made a few weeks ago. I posted some tutorials on how to install it.

I love mine, too. www.dieselgeek.com for a reasonable price, much more positive feel, much shorter throws, and they give you detailed installation instructions with pictures.
It took me and my friend like 2 hours to do, but we are not really mechanically inclined, and were missing a tool to make things easier. The install is just unscrewing various types of nuts and Torx screws in hard-to-reach places.
You will definitely want a flashlight, a strong mechanic's magnet or a grabber tool, and smallish hands.
It's worth it, though.
