Installed: Milltek Resonated

RE: Installed: Milltek Resonated
Good thread. I was thinking of going Milltek resonated for the same reason, it's not loud. Hearing how quiet you say it is makes me happy. I don't want a loud exhaust. When I get the money I'm going to get either Milltek or MTM exhaust/downpipe. Is the non-resonated really that much louder?

RE: Installed: Milltek Resonated
I was told that non-resonated milltek exhausts were also quiet... but I didn't want to risk it. I was petrified of spending all that time and money, and finding that it droned on the highway. So I went the safe route, and it is very, very quiet.
Edit: I just started the car and moved it from the driveway to the side of the road (making room so my dad can wash his cars), and I guess it is louder than stock... I guess it was all my anticipation before I turned the key for the first time, that had me thinking it was nearly stock sounding. It does sound good, though, and I maintain that it is very very quiet for an aftermarket exhaust.

I just put the non-resonated Milltek on my A4 - was worried about too loud, but the tuner basically said - resonated sounds stock - so I took the risk. After the install I was very pleased - almost worried that I got the resonated it is so subtle - beautiful growl at acceleration, no drone on the highway - even my wife liked it....

Im going to go with Borla or Eisenmann, Eisenmann has a great tone to it, im not sure how borla is though, im looking for a deep throaty sound here, dont care about noise.

RE: Installed: Milltek Resonated
the resonator box isn't required it there for sound reduction only the removal create more power as does the removal of the cat and you can do it legally as long as its done by an authorized specialist ( or you could cheat)

And avant... yeah, I'll keep the high flow cat, so I can pass emissions testing Oh, and I could get rid of the resonator if I really wanted to, and have a non-resonated milltek... but for now I'll definately keep it.

RE: Installed: Milltek Resonated
I don't have a clip, but as mentioned above (I have the non-R)- it is pretty subtle, throaty growl when you accelerate/decelerate but not obnoxious or rice at all - I don't think your gonna offend anyone who's in the car - milltek strives for classy sound - check out the Stratosphere web site - I think they have some soundclips. Like I said,my wife - who could generally give a shi* about cars thought it sounded pretty good.
