So... I have searched with no luck. Here is what my 1999.5 1.8TQM is doing, My turbo seems to at random either spool up and give me plenty of boost in every gear or nothing at all. When there is no spool sound it feels like a plain 4cyl engine. When there is boost I can hear the spool and feel it as well throughout all the gears. It has been doing this for a little over a week. I know from searching what a turbo should sound like when it is going out and mine sounds normal (and feels normal) when it does spool up...it is just inconsistent. It is all stock accept a forge DV installed about a month ago. Car was doing fine then.

Any ideas?

Did this start when you put the DV in or didit just randomly start

you shouild also get a boost guage.

 

It started randomly. I removed the stock DV valve (with 97,000 mi on it) to put the new one on and the it ran perfect. Could I need a new N75 valve?

 

An N75 valve is likely becasue it is your boost conrtoller. If that doesnt fix it, I would suspect a faulty wastegate. Are you saying it runs ok now that you replaced the dv? Or still ahving problems??? I have a stock n75 valve ill sell you for $30 shipped if you want it. Id get checked for fault codes though first. Let me know.
The n75 is off my car from when i upgraded to the N75J at 78kish miles. It worked fine when i took it out.

 

My OEM DV did not hold a good seal when I took it off, it was old. The car did not have this problem before I replaced it or directly after. I've hed the new DV for a little ove a month ant this problem started about a week ago and is still doing it. Driving this morning I had no boost in 1st 2nd and 3rd for several stop lights....then...no boost in 1st 2nd 3rd and all the sudden boost in 4th. After that I got consistent boost the rest of the drive to work in all gears. I'll go to autozone to get codes.

I may take you up on that N75 offer. any advantage to getting a race N75 on a stocker?
