Default I think I hear a BAD noise?

When I put my car into dirve, it takes a moment and then there is a almost like a crunching/grinding noise coming from under the car. It has been doing this for a while but I forgot about it, I got reminded today when I had my car door open and I was moving my car in the driveway. Back and forth from drive to reverse makes the same noise when it is going into either if them. Hope my tranny isn't taking a dump...

I would check the fluid level ASAP, and if its been more then 40K miles since it was last changed you should probably change it. You could save your trans if you catch it quick enough.

Is your wheel turned all the way in either direction... it might just be your power steering crying some tears... you should get the fluid changed.. be sure to use the correct kind.

No the wheel isn't turned at all, just going straight forward and backward in the driveway going from D to R.

It could your brakes squeeking a little when pressure is put on them for when you are swtiching into gears with the brakes on. If you know what i mean? Hard to explain it. My brakes do that a lot when they are wet. With the brakes applied, going from say Park to reverse, once reverse engages some force is put onto the pads which sort of shifts them slightly against the rotor which makes an unpleasant noise. OR you should have done like i told you when i told you. Regardless of any of this, if its a new noise and you suspect the tranny, definatley get the fluid/filter changed out. You really dont have any other options if it is tranny related and you can only hope for the best and act fast. If it turns out to be a tranny issue, chances are whats done is done and new fluid/filter isnt going to fix it. But its cheap insurance for this "just in case" senario when considering the alternative which is a new tip tranny. But, ya know... Maybe its your brakes... ? Good luck keep us posted.
