I just installed my k04 Turbo at home!
I just finished today my neuspeed k04 kit install( with out the software ). It to me about 8 hours total, just because i live 30 min from town. The car feels so fresh and quick, the turbo i took off had 130k on it the the wastegate arm floped around freely. I think if i can install this any one can, thanks to info found on the web.

So far even with out a chip, the car seems faster. Its snowed here so cant go to fast.
Upsolute chip is what im thinking of going with.
K04, test pipe, 5 bar fpr and 180 degree fan switch. What kind of numbers should i be expecting?

changing a stat to a lower temperature keeps the overall engine temps down. I'm assuming (and you know what happens) that he's changed the fan switch to 180*to have the fan kick on sooner, thus lowering the overall coolant system temp.
I don't know why you would do this at the fan though. I always did it with a change of the physical thermostat. I generally used a 160* stat, and then drilled holes in the lip of it, so some coolant was always flowing. the cooler temps kept the system from inducing KR (knock retard) and pulling timing.
In my 1/4 mile cars, we never used stats. Just a big *** washer. that way when you cut hard from the line, there isn't a delay in getting coolant to the heated cylinder walls. a big surge of cool antifreeze on a hot cylinder wall CAN cause an engine failure. Think cold water on a piece of hot metal... just inside your engine while moving at 6k RPMs.
ok I've rambled enough...
ps - doing so on a street car results in engines that never get up to tmep and reduces gas mileage, poor performance, and can be a cause of detonation.
