Default I have a concern.........

I have only had my A4 for about a month now its a used 98 - I wont go into details about the car - only the concern I have.

When I accelerate, it seem to pull harder when I only go about 1/2 to 3/4 throttle, than when I put it to the floor. Is this normal, - what could be causing this?

Bad plugs/wires
vacuum leak?

give me some idea's - thanks

That is weird, I'm not sure why you have that problem. At full throttle the ecu operates in open loop meaning it runs off stored maps, and at part throttle is runs in closed loop which means its using the o2 sensors and maf. Not that that helps but gl

acceleration and boost levels on the 1.8t normally are related to rpm in line with throttle position. Try cleaning your throttle body. Perhaps its gummed upa dn having trouble opening more than 3/4 way. Also might want to check the throttle cable - make sure it is not slack or stretched.

and of course plugs may play a part. If they cannot throw enough spark to ignite fuel delivery at full throttle, it may cause non-responsiveness. In other words you could be drowning your plugs when you punch it.

sounds like a throttle body problem...maybe it's just misaligned and needs to be adjusted....misaligned tbs can cause all sorts of strange issues....

ive had that problem when i first got it too, if it is sluggish (just from my experiences) and not accelerating at full throttle but picks up good at half pedal then it might be the diverter valve. i replaced mine and my throttle response and boost response is ten times better. if you need to replace the DV and you dont have the cash, you can go with a stock TT DV or a stock A4 DV which will cost you under 60$ from the factory. If you want to go with something aftermarket go with the new Forge 007 diaphragm valve (like our factroy valve) or a piston type valve, TurboXS, ECSTuning, etc...

Good advice, except that his is the 2.8 engine which isn't turbocharged.
