Hey there fellow Audi lovers! I am most likely getting a 96' A4 Quattro V6 in the upcoming week but help me out! What problems or troublespots should I be wary of? It has 115,000 on it but I am getting it for a great deal even still! Also, did they have projector headlights in 96 as well as HID's? I really am gonna be pissed if I have to get projectors and a conversion to HID's but I guess I will if I have to, besides, is there any other way to go!? Hey man... you might wanna try searching (the forums gets hit with SAME questions at least 5-10 times a week)that being said.. i would HIGHLY reccomend staying away from a 96.

I use to own one and the day i bought it until day i sold it. it has issues and was a money hog. i was repairing it all the time.

hold off and get a later car with less mileage. what are u looking for? something modable? or something to just drive?have u checked out the a4 1.8t? I have had my new car for half a year with 0 problems.

 

Thanks for the advice but I really wont be modding the car or anything and I baby my vehicles anyways! So she is in good hands no matter what! Besides, I am driving a 92 Camry LE right now with a transmission that slips hardcore and when it does it makes me wanna cry it hurts on the inside too! HAHA So it is def time to get rid of it! Plus I work at a VW dealer and have a mechanic friend so I think I am in good shape! About the headlights though, do I need projectors and HID's? I think I do from what I have seen so far! 96 cars had neither HIDs nor projectors. sorry bro.

 

I purchased my 96 with 89k. I have 101k on it now with no problems. I do however have every maintenance record up unitl my ownership. There's that piece of mind... if your car is maintained well then it will last a while. HIDs will be an upgrade, but i have no problem using my non-HID headlights.

Enjoy your 96 man. Mine has been trouble free and since I do all my own work it will continue to be that way. Maintenance records are key, but I only use mine a few times a week, and sometimes a 400 mile trip no0w and then. It fits the bill nicely and I have no intention of giving it up.
