RE: how much to get lowers painted?
FYI
SideShowMO sent me this, he started painting his lowers and they look pretty good
see below
Dupli Color Radiant Silver (closest match)
Dupli Color Clear Coat
Dupli Color Adhesion Promotor (clear primer for bumpers)
350 grit sand paper
1300 grit sand paper
Dishwashing liquid
Rubbing alcohal
1. Remove what your gonna paint and do not paint while on the car. The parts are easy to remove
2. Clean with dishwashing detergant
3. Sand with 350 grit and make sure no shiney areas exist. Paint will not stick to shiney surface
4. Clean again
5. Once dry clean with rubbing alcohal. This gets rid of any residue, oils, tar, etc... that the dishwashing cannot and make sure your hands are clean as well
6. Spray Adhesion promoter 3 light coats 2 mins dry time between
7. Within 10 mins of adhesion promotors final coat, spray a light coat of your base Radiant Silver. 2-10 mins between coats. Your second and third coat you want to spray wet but w/o drips.
8. Let dry for 2 hours and wet sand with 1300 grit lightly. You do not want to go down to the primer. You can fell it and it usually only takes a light pass
9. Once dry, spray the clear coat just like you did the base coat. In three coats. You can wet sand in between each coat to get a more smooth glass like finish
10. Finally after about 48 hours you want to buff and polish with a rubbing compound, scatch remover, etc... This will bring out a professional finish or at least somewhat close to it
