Hook up my new DV

Hook up my new DV
So I picked up a 710N awhile back and i finally got around to putting it on today. I got the old one off no problem, the two larger hoses came free vary easy since it had been changed before by the previous owner. Then to my surprise the DV came loose with the third small vacuum hose still attached I pull it out and there is about a 1-1/2 feet of hose hangin off and the thing looks beat to hell. I think I might have found my boost leak. I pulled the other 1/2 of the hose up and sniped it off of the intake manifold. I replaced the hose with some rubber vacuum hose from a parts store and got the 710N into place.
The car seems to pull a lot harder now - now it actually pulls you back into the seat.
two quick questions
#1 The hose from DV to intake was rubber with a bradded cloth outer casing - is there a reason for this hose having the bradded exterior?
#2 the band that was holding the hose onto the intake can not be reused but the store that I went to did not have anything that would go down that small in a regular hose clamp - is there a need for it to be clamped?

RE: Hook up my new DV
But if the hose from the DV to the intake was broken in half wouldn't that cause a major boost leak. Or at least not allow the boost to recirculate. I thought that was were most people put a Tee for their boost gauge?

RE: Hook up my new DV
The linethat you "tee for a boost gauge"goes to the n75 valve and it is how the computer regulates boost. If the hose was that bad I would assume you would have a code for a low boost condition unless it doesn't store under boost codes and only stores over boost codes. The computer may have been trying to correct the low boost condition and was allowing so much boost that the dv couldn't hold it causing a loss of power, just speculation though.

RE: Hook up my new DV
I looked a little closer at my diagrams in my bentley manual and the hose that I am talking about is called - Vacuum hose to intake maifold - since the DV had no vacuum line connected to it I can only assum that the DV could not even oppereate and the system was totally closed.

1. The braiding also helps wit abrasion resistance it can be replaced with any vacuum hose.
2. Use a zip tie on it, or purchase the one use clamps from the dealer, the tool to crimp them is like $10.
