Default Hood stuck, San Diego help please

I have a 2000 1.8T quattro and the cable to my hood latch seems to have disconnected. I tried to get to the latch from underneath the car via http://forums.audiworld.com/a4/msgs/1777307.phtml but I can't really see the latch. Has anyone in the San Diego area had this problem that could help me out? Or even just meet up with me to give me a minute to look at the latch from the top side so I know what I should be looking for from underneath. If so could you pm me please? I actually don't really know anyone locally with an A4

OK I just got it! You have to remove the plastic shroud under the oil pan, lay on your back with your head under the front of the car, use a head lamp and look just behind the radiator straight up in the middle. The hood release mechanism has two metal parts that must be squeezed together, there is just enough room to slide your right hand with a pair of medium size channel locks up behind the radiator and squeeze them together. PRESTO! boy that's nice! whoever this helps, you're welcome. Slapjudy.
