so with seeing my boost at a max of 17 and an average of 14-15 do u think i have leark.

I have some weird japanese boost gauge (name brand: swoosh) and the instructions say i need to calibrate it, but i just don't know how to do that.

Hmm.... IDK then. I didn't have to deal with that with mine. GlowShift is the one I got.

That's why you buy a good name brand gauge. What kind of calibrated pressure measuring equipment do they expect you to calibrate it with, a bike pump and tire pressure gage, WTF? Does it read '0' at least when the engine is off and the key is on? I dunno what GIAC chips put down for boost, but mine holds at 16 psig and I'm pretty sure i have no leaks.

OK - is 12 in Hg at start up under higher ~1200 rpm, or is after the car warms up a bit and idles down to ~800 rpm. At 800 rpm, the vac should be ~ 20 in Hg.
Good luck with finding your leak, I'm about to be posting up some pics of the car with the coilovers.

it goes to 12 (ive seen it down at 15 a few times) when im down to 800 rpms. it does read 0 when the car is on but not started. I'll get something figured out, if theres no leak then ill just replace the gauge.

well a search revealed this-

METERS AND SENSORS ARE ELECTRICAL - MEANING SENSOR IS REMOTE MOUNTED. SELF DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION TO ENSURE SENSORS AND METERS ARE FUNCTIONING PROPERLY.

so its an electrical boost gauge, which means it should calibrate itself. i think you got a vac leak

got it from here- http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SWOOS...spagenameZWDVW

i've never heard of someone having to calbrate their gauge, usually the company does that. and your slightly low numbers make me think vac leak as well. my k04 went from holding 15 psi and spiking 18 to holding 22-23psi after i fixed my vac leak. does your boost spike higher in the gear, or spike right away then fall off later in higher rpm?
