Default Hitting higher RPM's after K&N 57i install

I recently installed aK&N 57i intake on my '99 and noticed thatwhen i mash the gas pedal and it hits the "passing gear" that my RPM's are hitting up into the 5k range and then coming back down. I didn't notice this prior to the 57i install, so i was wondering if this is a by-product of going with this intake,or is something starting to rear its ugly head?

I just changed the plugs yesterday to NGK Iridium IX, so is there something else i should be checking? Throttle body maybe?

fyi - 2.8 w/tippy
fyi2 - hitting 5k with that intake on sounds pretty good tho

do you notice anything slipping, it may jsut be your engine can excellerate better due to more air, and your tranny mod not shifting as fast.

Nope, can't say i really feel anything slipping. Your ideology of the engine breathing better makes sense, which of course is why i put the intake on to begin with. I'm probably worrying over nothing, but wanted to double-check to see if maybe something in the car was on its way out.
