High mileage C5 A6 2.8L TIP TRANNY FLUID, LEAVE IT ALONE OR CHNAGE NOW????
Hi everyone, Plz help. I just passed 200k miles in my A6 2.8L Tiptronic, Im considering swapping for a new filter and fluid, blauparts has it for around a hundred bucks I think a small price to pay for preventative maintence. Has anybody had any experience changing the fluid with this high of mileage even though the manual says it is a lifetime fluid? In my other post someone said it might stirr things up and do more harm than good. Any input?? My tranny seems fine other than some stiffness on cold mornings. I would just like to get the most out of this car as possible. Please respond Thanks!

I see your point but the problem is when it does break you cant really fix it, the cost of doing so would be more than the car is worth. "If it aint broke dont fix it" can be applied to an alternator, an ECT sensor, or even a control arm. but the transmission is an intricate part of the drivetrain with thousands of moving parts and very expensive, there really isnt any inbetween breaking point it either works or it doesnt. So the question is what would generally make the transmission last longer leaving it be w/ all the crap thats probably in it or giving it fresh blood?
