HID question?? Dealer is ripping me off!!!
Hey there I dont know too much about audi A4's except for the fact that I have one and its a great car! I have a 2001 A4 Quattro and recently my left headlamp assembly died out. I took it into the dealership and they wanted 600+ DOLLARS!!! I left promptly and only drive in the morning and use my other car for night driving. Now my question is they told me that I needed the "charging system" for the headlamp, which im assuming is the ballast?? Ive tried looking online and i can only find complete assemblies. Does my car use an H7 style system?if not then what bulb or system should i be looking for (h1, h3, h7, etc)? I have searched and found that since that my car is already equipped with an HID system then I only need replacement bulbs?? does anyone know of a good reputable HID site that can help me with my problems? Should I just replace both of them and save some money and time in the long run? thanks for any info you guys are the best!

by any chance would you know what kind of ballast system to purchase that will work with the oem setup?? So from looking at visionbulbs.com im assuming the d2s ballast should work for the d2s stock hid bulb in my 2001 a4?? Does it matter if i need a right or left side ballast??

It is possible the dealer is BSing you. Remove both headlights.
You'll need a T-30 1/4" bit with a 6" extension to get to
the lower back screw. You can reverse the bulbs to see if that's
the problem. If not reverse the ballasts.
