This is huge!!!!!!! Why don't you ask what's the best car? [:@]

OK, enough b!tchin' on my part...
But first of all, don't call them rims. They're wheels, bro! [8D]

I'd look at Ronal, BBS, Fikse, and HRE if you've got extra cash to burn!
Offset is OK between 30 - 42mm with most around 39mm

Hope this is a start.

I figured I might repost my question here, since I haven't gotten any responses yet. Maybe some shared interest:

18" RS6 rims on a 1.8T?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have the opportunity to get a set of 9 spoke, 8.5J X 18" rims from my friend who has a brand new RS6. These are the stock rims that come with the car, and he upgraded.

My question is, will I run in to issues (turning, rubbing) when I mount these rims on my 2002 A4 1.8T Quattro with Sport package?

Secondarily, would a 235/40/18 best size tire for these rims?

My car currently has the stock 5 spoke 17" rims, with 235/40/17 Dunlops.

Thanks

Diggitty: Your stock tires are actually incorrect for the speedo. They should be 235/45 17. This would give you an accurate speedo. Currently your tires are causing your speedo to read 3.7% too fast. Nevertheless, the correct size for 18 inch wheels are 235/40 18.

You should not have any rubbing issues with the plus one sizing. Having said that... There may be a slight chance of rubbing if you were to drive the car at its limit in a hard corner at a track, but I've only heard of this with a lowered car with an 18 inch package.

Gun metal may look good depending on the color of the car. Sometimes they look too dark; they may even look like a spare wheel! But hey... it still comes down to personal choice. You have to live with them. If you like the combo/color, then go with it.

Probably will be OK.

Got any ideas yet? Any pics of your choices?

Thank you IMOLAS4,

You are right, my stock tires are 235/45/17, my mistake.

My concern was that my car is Sport package, so it is slightly lower. More importantly, the wheels that I want to put on are from an RS6, and are pretty wide at 8.5". No worries about hard cornering at a track, just normal highway and city driving.

Should I still be OK?

Thanks

Yep. It's not so much that your wheels are wider than stock (and they're not that much wider anyway). It's the tires that will cause trouble. But your choices are fine. 235/40 18 tires will only increase the tire width by ~0.25 inches from the stock width of 9.3 inches. That's not enough to worry about. Your sport suspension will not pose a problem either.
