Default Help with squeeky wheel

Well, I originally posted this in the General Tech section but haven't had any replies as of yet and it's somewhat important. Thanks to all who reply.

I mentioned in another post that my front driver's side wheel is making sort of a squeeking sound (not too loud, cuts in and out, but there everytime I drive) and someone suggested that it is most likely a control arm (I thought perhaps it might be a wheel bearing). They also suggested that I pick them up from ecstuning. When I went to the ecstuning website, they had a few different options and I wasn't sure which ones to get. I figured I'd just get the left and right fronts to take care of both sides at once and have peace of mind. The car is a 2001 1.8T Quattro and my future mods are mostly going to be suspension, wheels, body components, and a little more go (wasn't sure if any of these mods might affect which control arms I purchase). Any suggestions as to which ones I should get exactly, or perhaps if I should just get the oem ones brand new (I can get them at a discount), would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Well the best thing to do is to have someone check it out who can give you that answer positively because if you go out and buy new wheel bearings or something like that then you put some kind of new suspension on it and they dont coincide then you are pretty much screwed. Just becareful whatever you buy and start modding/fixing before you defenitely know what the problem is and if it is going to affect your future plans. Hope that helped.

I also noticed that while cruising slowly (25-30mph) when I heard the sound, I could tap on the brake and it would disappear momentarily. I'm not sure, but perhaps this might aid in finding the general diagnosis.

Yeah it could be the rotors or something in that general area. I am not sure but I think you are heading in the right direction. Something maybe screwed on or was applied to tight and is causing friction somewhere in the wheel well.

have ur car checked out, im guessing its ur bearing. I had the samething with my car, but it sounded like i was riding on a flat tire and it ended up being my bearing AND control arm so. Id have it checked out
