HELP OIL DIPSTICK FLEW OUT ASAP
my oil dipstick cap flew off while i was driving and oil started spraying on my headers and onto the bottom of the hood. This car is my daily driver and i had to order one which will take 3 days. What are some options to stop the spraying if i'm going to be driving it. If i shove some tin foil in the dipstick hole, what that temporarly help, or would that be a stupid idea? Please help ASAP because i need it for work tommarow morning.

Tin foil is a terrible idea. You dont want to chancegetting anything metalic into the crank case. Just put a plastic baggie and rubber band around it.
Wait..... Dipstick "Cap"?? Are you talking about the dipstick, or the fill hole cap on the valve cover? Either way, I dont see how eitherone can "fly" off...........?

my wife pulled my oil dipstick off last month and broke the orange thing off that pulls the dipstick out. I put it back on and it seemed to stay untill today when i noticed an oil smell comeing through my vents. I opend up the hood and the orange cap was missing and it looks like oil is spraying out onto the hood and onto the intake manifold.

lol, i was mad at her at first, but i got over it pretty quick. So if i put a little plastick bag around it with a rubber band around, that will work? Wont the hot oil melt the bag?
