Default HELP NEEDED here, new to audi

Hi guys, im new here in audi forum and hopefully i will be a proud audi owner in near future

I am currently thinking about buying b6 a4, 2 choices ive got so far are: 2002 black 2.4 with 76000km and 2002 grey 2.0 with 51000km
questions inside are; is there any known common problem on 2002 model? how much are the service intervals and how do the two differ?
what should I be aware of when buying such models? Any advice on particular model maybe? It does not have to be 2002 and 2.0/2.4 model,

Thanks all...

UPDATE:

new consideration guys,

its a 2003 b6 1.8T cvt with 44,500 kms

are all the quattros manual? cos i search for quattro automatic and it returned zero result in my local adsite

desperately needing help and advice here guys,

modern Audi have no more problems than other makes if looked after "service history" is important when buying and get it checked by a qualified mechanic before purchase

FYI, I used to drive a Honda s2000 2.0L vtec and a Nissan maxima with 3.5L Q35 engine, ( not impressed at all )

Correct me if I'm wrong, not accounting for mods of course, but doesn't the 02 B6 model come with either the 1.8t or 3.0. The S4 is a 2.7 - The 2005 model is the first year for the 2.0 engine.

one thing i forgot to mention, i am located in australia, here there are many options for the a4; 2.0; 1.8T; 2.4; and 3.0 before you have the s4

now i have another option, its a 2002 silver 1.8T with 43,000kms,

about the lower part of the car, can i just paint it using metal paint or do i have to use special paint

i heard from a couple of friends the lower part is plastic and cannot be painted using normal metal paint

Most of us are US based, and we don't get the 2.4 or 2.0. Engines were limited to the 1.8T, 2.8 (recently the 3.0) and the 2.7 bi-turbo.

Most people here opt for the 1.8T because of the tuning possibilities. It gets reasonable mileage and depending on how much or little you want to spend on engine modifications, you can have it pump out significant power.

Not all quattros are manual. Search for tiptronic, which is Audi's automatic with manual override. I am not a great fan of the CVT, expecially if you plan on modifying the car, as the CVT wont hold significant additional power.

The common problems are with the front end control arms and tie rod ends. If you drive slowly over small bumps you will hear clunking. Other major problems is a propensity to oil sludging in the 1.8T if synthetic oil is not used, or the oil is not changed at the apropriate service intervals.

Whichever car you choose, make sure you take it to an independent VW/Audi mechanic and have him check it over for you before you buy it. As with any used car, you can expect to put 1500 dollars into it in the first year to take care of minor things.

thank you for the advice david,

my plan of modifying will be no further than aftermarket wheels and small performance parts,

yeah i tried to search more sites, i still cannot find cvt quattro for the 1.8T b6,

with other quattros, yes there are cvt for the other quattros.

this afternoon i saw a 2001 1.8T a4 quattro b6 with 84000kms (50000miles) for au$ 28000 ( $21,000)
what do you guys think?

is the mileage a bit too much or just okay? what should i look for when buying pre-owned audi?

thanks once again

that seems a bit pricey for an '01. get a manual, these cars are not meant to have automatics in them.
