HELP: Hesitation on acceleration
2001 B5 A4 2.8
I purchased this car about 4 years ago and ever since I owned it, I noticed the car’s acceleration was very hesitant as if it would lightly shutter. It didn’t seem as if it was receiving the fully smooth power through the acceleration. I’ve brought it to the dealer numerous times and they would just tell me there are no code errors. One time they did a throttle body adaptation and this seemed to help for a few months. Another time I brought it in for this fluttering or lack of power, and they replaced the plugs and wires. This didn’t help either.
After reading the forums, one of the most widely suggested fixes was to replace the coils. I just did this and I still have the same problem.
Any suggestions? I guess I can try another throttle body adaptation. Does anyone have a link to this procedure for my model?

95% resolved (solution)
I just completed a TBA. After searching this forum and others, I found many different suggestions how to complete a TBA (WOT or don’t touch peddle etc..) . I ended up taking these steps taken from:

1. Get in your car, it doesn't matter if you close the door or not.
2. Turn the key to the on position, the position just before the starter turns over.
3. Press the gas pedal to the floor with the key in the "on" position.
4. Hold the pedal to the floor for five seconds, then turn the key back to the "off" position(don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.
5. Wait 2 mins. for a full alignment. During this time you may hear very faint noises and clicks. I
only heard one sitting in my car, if I got out and popped the hood I might hear more.
6. Drive the car as you always do.
I just took her for a test drive and what a difference. I now get, somewhat, continuous flutter free acceleration on the top end (3k rpm up to red). I do notice very minor hesitation when taking off in first gear or accelerating from a rolling start. Since I’ve noticed such a difference adjusting throttle body, I’ll contribute the remaining backing off problems to a dirty throttle body.
Next on the list is to clean the throttle body and this should fix’er. I have to find it before I can clean it. Anyone point me in the right direction to find it?

Cleaned the throttle body
Yes, its a 2001 2.8 Quattro black on black
I pulled the throttle body out and wiped it out. This seemed to help with the fluttering in acceleration. She now accelerates strong and smooth as a 6cyl should. Power is back.
I do still have some lurching when I take off from a stop. About the time the clutch is fully up and gear is engaged, the car seems to hit a dead zone and want to hesitate.
Any idea’s what this could be? Maybe fuel filter or something to do with fuel system?
