Default HELP HELP HELP!!!

I need help/Advice/Evidence!!

I drive a 2007 A4 2.0T Quattro 6 - Speed

Has 35,000 miles

Driving Saturday night my clutch pedal got stuck to the floor and because I was on the highway and had to manuever off I burnt the clutch out.

I know something mechanically failed to cause my clutch pedal to get stuck and it only burnt out cause I had to get off the highway....which should be covered by warranty

I thought it was a slave cylinder or a hydraulic cylinder

IRA AUDI in Danvers, MA is now telling me that the clutch plate shattered.....how is that physically possible in only 35,000 miles and I know how to drive standard? I had a 2004 A4 with 60,000 miles on it and never had any clutch issues. I have also blown two gaskets in the engine of the 2007 which I was told by the service manager wasnt my fault.

They are also telling me it is not covered by warranty and is going to cost roughly $1800 to fix.

The car is a lemon there are defects or something. I have had the thing for 16 months and have nothing but issues with it. The funny thing is that I love the car and had no issues with my 2004 which made me upgrade to the 2007.

Something has gone wrong in the assembly or the engineering or there is some sort of defect.

I have done plenty of research and what I have found out is that something else failed to cause my pedal to get stuck and that mechanical failure caused my cluth plate to shatter.

Has anyone ever experienced something like this?

Please someone give me some advice...I love my Auid but this is ridiculous and I am thinking of leaving Audi's for good after this.

PLEASE HELP!!!

Clutch plates at 35k don’t just shatter unless a defect caused it or you where running a BT setup which I’m sure you are not. I would contact Audi US direct and speak to there customer service team and ask them to explain how a 35k clutch plate could shatter and also mention all the other problems you have had with the car at the same time and see how you get on from there.

Do you know any Audi Reps I can talk to or contact to help me prove that this is a defect and not just wear and tear?

should be covered under warranty. if the manager your speaking to isn't willing to do so, keep going up in the chain. the higher the position the more compliant they are

I would think it is covered under warrantee. If not, definately contact Audi direct. I have never heard of a clutch plate shattering like that after only 35K. I bought my car new, and have not had any issues. Good luck!

Guys with 400-500+WHP Lancers and STI's beat the **** outta them and u hardly ever hear of a clutch plate snapping. No one I know has ever had that happen. Sounds like a metal impurity in the disk may have led to a crack which when it reached critical size grenaded the clutch apart.

Just got back from the dealership.

Not Good

They are trying to tell me it is 100% abuse.

I brought a certified mechanic with me and he even argued with the sales manager that the way the plate is shattered is not wear and tear that it is 100% a manufacturers defect.

Long story short there is some blue on the Fly wheel but I know I burnt it after the failure trying to manuever off the highway towards safety.

The plate is definately shattered into many many pieces but only on one side. The other side is completely normal. No cracks or heat damage or warping.

I told the manager to request an Audi Representative/Specialist to come down and take a look .... with me and my mechanic present and I have placed a claim with Audi Customer Service.

Now its just a waiting game.

Next step is the better business bureau or to sit in the parking lot with a sign saying do not buy a car here the service is awful and they will steal your money.

I do not know much about mechanics but after doing my research and speaking with my mechanic and having him look at the part I am completely convinced it is 100% a manufacturers defect and they are trying to **** me.

Thanks for the help. Wish me luck

Feel free to reply with advice or suggestions

Which would be a manufacturers defect right?

Thats my point. There is no way this happened through normal wear and tear

The only way is to be pulling hole shots which i do not do. It happened at 3500 RPM shifting from 5th to 6th at 55 MPH........
